pineapple oven mitts [minimalist challenge item #47]

[item] Pineapple oven mitts

[purchase info] Purchased new at Ross

[time in my possession] Approximately 6 years

[last used] 6 months ago

[difficulty level in getting rid of it] Easy

[destination] Given to a family in need

[info] I have more of these than I can use at one time.  Not needed.  Cute pineapples, but not functional at all.  The floppy tops get into the food and they don’t protect well from the heat.

when I grow up, I want to be a waterbed [day 121]

Fast food condiment packets.  Messy editable liquids in convenient, tiny portions, designed for eating ‘on the go’.  My favorites are the Taco Bell sauce packets with funny sayings on them.

I still feel like fast food eating is similar to retail shopping in a way, as I could be cooking and having nice family meals or changing my eating habits to save money and not be wasteful.  When I do eat a fast food meal, it usually is while I’m driving (and texting… no, just kidding) and usually includes french fries.  I like ketchup with my fries and I have a question.

How do you eat ketchup while driving?

Okay, I really thought everyone does what I do, but I was informed that nobody does what I do, or at least it’s a rare thing if they do.   Continue reading

cleaning the garage [day 62]

Let me start by saying I’m not posting a photo of my garage.  It would scare people.  I did decide to start cleaning it.  I do this process about once a year, but I’m pretty sure that the stuff is multiplying like rabbits.  My house isn’t too big (other than the energy wasting high ceilings) so I really don’t have room for an art studio.  I decided yesterday if I cleaned out my garage enough, it could work as useable space.  If we only had basements here!

It’s ridiculous how much stuff I have.  Being an artist, I see everything as a blank canvas.  I do mean EVERYTHING.  I got a good portion of it cleaned out and sent an entire truckload to Frisco Resale.  About three more truckloads and I should be set.

I will keep you posted on the progress, as this will be a long term thing.  My goal is to have it done by the time the weather cools off.  Done, meaning cleaned, organized and painted.  Looks like I have plenty of time to do it, lots of hot weather ahead.  :)

Is your garage a ‘catch all’?
